UAGC PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT

Through the generosity of the friends of Jewel J. Bindrup, who made the initial contribution, UAGC will consider proposals from other groups, organizations, or individuals for grants for professional development projects or activities that have potential to benefit gifted and talented education in Utah.  Grant funds may be distributed according to the following guidelines:

  • The amount of money to be donated annually by UAGC from the interest of the UAGC Professional Development Grant Fund (and from UAGC general funds, until the interest of the grant fund can cover the cost) will be determined annually by the Executive Board.
  • Proposals must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the commencement of the professional development project/activity.
  • Proposals must include the following information:
    • The purpose of the project/activity and its relationship to gifted and talented education.
    • The dates of the project/activity.
    • A brief description of the project/activity (with a time-line, if appropriate).
    • A budget outline.
    • The specific amount being requested from UAGC.
  • The Board will discuss awarding of a grant at its next regularly scheduled board meeting following the reception of the proposal; the decision will be made by majority vote of the Executive Board.
  • Proposals will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
    • The proposal advances the purposes of UAGC.
    • The proposal promises statewide impact, either directly or indirectly.
    • The proposal advances the name recognition of UAGC.
    • The proposing organization, or individual, has explored other available sources.
  • The Board reserves the right to grant any or all of the amount requested.
  • Based on the project/activity, the proposing organization will write an article for the UAGC newsletter or make a presentation at the UAGC Annual Conference.
  • The fund may be used for (but not limited to) the following activities:
    • Attendance at national, state, or local conferences.
    • Exemplary classroom projects.
    • Teacher preparation for new program initiation.
    • Action research on service innovations.
    • Endorsement programs.
